Sandra Priestley Coaching
How that heck have you BEEN!? Some of you over-achievers read this blog or my emails immediately ... and many of you tell me that you wait until the PERFECT time later in the month, where you can grab your favourite mug and a cozy blanket and curl up with my thoughts.
I love it all and I LOVE when you message me your thoughts on what I've said. Keep them coming!!!
Now for the stuff I'd say if we were sitting having coffee ...
COFFEE TALK
This month I had a really interesting conversation with a woman in The Powerhouse about negative and unhelpful thoughts. She had mentioned that she badly because it seemed to take her a long time to stop those negative thoughts she was having ... like they were on repeat for YEARS and it was taking forever for her to truly "get it" and be free of them.
My comment: I have negative thoughts too ... I just reprogram them as quickly as I can.
Somewhere along the way, I think we've gotten the idea that getting better at this means the negative thoughts eventually stop showing up.
They don't, so let's just set the record straight right here ... right now.
It's estimated that we have 6,200 CONSCIOUS thoughts every day and between 50,000 and 70,000 SUBCONSCIOUS thoughts. 90% of those are NEGATIVE and the majority of those have been repeated from the day prior (and likely the 700 days prior to that).
So I do I have my poop in a group all the time? NOPE.
I still have negative thoughts. I still have insecurities, fears, doubts and moments when my brain takes one tiny thing and turns it into an entire narrative of bullshit before I've finished my coffee.
The goal isn't to never have another shitty thought. The goal is to stop letting every shitty thought control you.
This is how I explain it ...
Your conscious mind is driving your car. It's the part of you that knows where you want to go. It looks at iMaps. It watches the traffic. It sees the stop signs and the green lights. It makes decisions, changes routes when necessary and hopefully remembers to appreciate some of the scenery along the way. THIS girl is in charge (and also ... is she not the cutest version of me EVERRRR????)
Now, for as cute as she is, sitting behind me, is what I affectionately call the bitch in the backseat.
She's the negative, know-it-all backseat driver who has an opinion about EVERYTHING and when we listen to HER?? Our journey is much less enjoyable.
EVERY one of us has a bitch in the backseat. She's that annoying chick who is running commentary in the background. The old fears, assumptions, beliefs and stories that she has repeated so many times, they start to sound like facts. I'm sure you know the kind:
"What if I look stupid"
"I KNOWWWW what she was thinking."
"I really need to learn to keep my mouth shut."
"I'm probably going to fuck this up."
"I'm never going to be (good/fit/healthy/happy/pretty/thin/rich) enough"
Here's the part we get wrong:
We think that success is removing our backseat Brenda completely.
The truth is ... we are HUMAN. We have negative thoughts. The work, the REAL WORK, is learning to recognize her voice without automatically handing her the steering wheel.
- A thought can show up without becoming a fact.
- An insecurity can show up without becoming a decision.
- Fear can yell from the backseat while you keep driving toward your destination.
Maybe five years ago, "You can't do this" would have made you turn the car around.
Maybe three years ago, she would have pulled over.
Maybe last year, she would have spent three days parked on the side of the road wondering if the bitch in the backseat was right.
But today?
Maybe she hears the exact same thought, rolls her eyes and keeps fucking driving.
THAT is progress.
(P.s. we talk a lot about reprogramming our thoughts in The Powerhouse. I mean, if you want to achieve ANYTHING, you need to eliminate the thoughts that keep you from achieving it, right?)
WHAT (or who) INSPIRES ME
Recently, I've been watching this chick on Facebook make sourdough bread.
Now. I don't like baking. I don't eat a lot of bread. I don't have sourdough starter and I'm not sure that I WANT to, but yet ...
I'm obsessed with The Sourdough Hoe and honestly, you'll be shocked at why I love her so much ...
I mean, she's fun to listen to. She's casual and says that she can teach ANYONE to make sourdough easily (and she really DOES make it sound easy) but the reason I love her?? At the end of every video, she says "... k, BYE!!!" and sort of slides out of the scene.
That's so odd and random but truly that's my favourite part of every video.
You never truly know what it is that people love about you, ya know? We overthink the hell out of things and often what we THINK matters, doesn't. Authenticity and simplicity always wins.
FENG SHUI TIP OF THE MONTH
Fall is associated with the Metal element in Feng Shui and one of the beautiful qualities of Metal is the ability to let go of what is no longer useful. I always think that when the trees let go of their leaves ... it's natures subtle way of telling us that it's time for us to do the same!
Fall is the PERFECT time to look around your home and ask:
What am I keeping that is no longer serving me?
I'm not just thinking about clearing up your undone tasks and throwing out the chipped mug you have to drink from weirdly so you don't cut your lip. I'm talking about the jeans you're keeping for the body you had 12 years ago, the supplies from the hobby you don't even like anymore and the expensive thing you hate, but keep because you spent money on it.
Our homes can become museums of who we USED to be, but if that's the case, it could be the reason that you're being held back!!!
So here's your fall Feng Shui assignment:
Go through your home and look at all of the items that no longer bring you joy. Then consider:
- Do I use this?
- Do I need this?
- Do I love this?
- Is it broken?
- Does this represent the person I want to be?
Start with the stuff that you have no emotional attachment to and release them from your space.
Donate them. Sell them. Recycle them. Throw them out if they are garbage.
Remember: if your hands are full of unwanted stuff, you have no capacity to accept the opportunities that are coming toward you.
COOL SHIT
Okay did you think the caricatures of me in the car were cute???
ChatGPT!! (yes ... I know that in the past, I have said that I really despise AI, but it's growing on me like a fungus, so just go with it. We GET to evolve).
A few days ago I saw a facebook post where a woman told her friends to copy and paste this prompt into ChatGPT and see what comes up:
"Give my personality a mascot using what you know about me and the uploaded photo for my appearance. Keep my facial features. Invent a funny cartoon mascot that represents my personality. Feature a glamorous cartoon version of me posing beside the mascot as if we are an iconic duo. The mascot can be an animal, creature, object, or completely imaginary character. Give it one small accessory or detail that connects it to me. Add its name and one short tagline explaining its energy. Keep everything else minimal. White background, clean composition, polished colourful cartoon artwork. Do not ask me what the mascot should be."
Uhmmm check out my little sidekick, Olive! (P.s. Olive is also what I call my ChatGPT ... because I used to hate olives and now I love love love them ... same with Chat)
(Also, can I grow my hair out, make it thicker, lose some weight and find an owl? Yes ... yes I think I can).
If you upload this prompt into your ChatGPT I wanna see your results! Send to me in a return email, would ya?
WHAT AM I UP TO?
What do an 81 year old mountain man, an author born in 1871 and a woman who had a near death experience have in common??
They're a three-week focus on shifting our thoughts in THE POWERHOUSE!!
Last month, I led a series on creating miracles and now I'm moving onto reprogramming your thoughts. I mean ... miracles don't find people who don't believe in them, ya know?
Also, if you follow me on my Facebook Page, you might've noticed a little change I did this month. NEW HEADER!!
The thing that I focus on when working with my clients is finding the FASTEST way to success with the LEAST amount of resistance. We move and honestly ... as if by magic ... things start to shift.
I have clients who have gone from 0- 50K in 6 months ... doubled their income in a year ... effortlessly increased their social media following by THOUSANDS in a week ... lost weight ... healed trauma ... manifested jobs, vehicles, houses, partners, lottery wins, money ... and felt more in control of their own emotions.
It doesn't have to take an act of God and years of therapy. You can feel better NOW and it truly does feel like it happens AS IF BY MAGIC.
TASTY SHIT
This summer I was making some super easy meat, cheese and pineapple pizzas (cause pineapple ... yes please). Only problem: that seemed kinda boring. I felt like something a bit more special and VOILA ... my vegetarian masterpiece was created!
Isn't it pretty? It didn't take a ton of time either and lots came from the pantry ... here it is
Sandra's Favourite Vegetarian Pizza
Ingredients
Store bought Naan Bread
jarred basil pesto
parmesan cheese
cremini mushrooms, sliced
canned artichoke hearts, sliced
jarred roasted red peppers, sliced
red onions, sliced into slivers
shredded mozzarella cheese
garnish: fresh basil leaves + chili flakes
Directions
Sautee a container of cremini mushrooms in a bit of butter. Halfway through cooking sprinkle with garlic salt. (The salt helps to draw out a bit more moisture and also adds flavour)
Spread basil pesto all over the bottom of the naan bread, then sprinkle with parmesan cheese. Add in layers:
- mushrooms (and lots of them all over the bottom)
- artichokes
- roasted red peppers
- red onion slivers
- mozza cheese
Place in oven, directly on rack. 450F for approximately 6-8 minutes or until golden brown crust edges and melted cheese.
Remove from oven and let rest for a few minutes. Add fresh basil and chili flakes as a garnish, cut and enjoy.
Our Tips and Tricks
* This is just what's on MY favourite pizza, but like in business (and in life) CUSTOMIZE it to YOUR preference. You can use store bought dough or homemade ... you can use homemade pesto or jarred sundried tomato pesto ... you can use white mushrooms, fancy ones or personally harvested ones.
* if I hadn't eaten all of my fresh mozzarella I would have used it here - it's my favourite! I'd add a bit of garlic salt to the top of the pizza if I was using fresh mozza!
p.s. I love this pizza so much my mouth is watering just writing about it.
