My Random Thoughts from January 2024

Jan 31, 2024

Hey girl heyyyyyyyy.    I hope you have had a kick-ass start to your 2024 so far!!!

I've had a great month running another round of The Power of You, I've had more private coaching calls than ever before and I've begun doing Neurographics!!  It's been funnnnnn.

Just kidding.

Think:  art therapy combined with drawing new neural pathways to release subconsious/limiting beliefs.

I signed up on a whim (I mean ... $27 USD and my life can change?  WHY NOT).

Some of them are absolutely beautiful ... they each have a different purpose.  In one drawing, we were asked to stretch ourselves and choose colours we don't necessarily like.  Uhmmmm THAT was harder than I thought it would be actually.

Brown, moss green and two different yellows ... definitely not my typical colour palette.

But here's what they taught:  it's not about how they LOOK in the end (even though most of the time you do end up liking them when they are done), it's the mental connections you make, the clarity you find and the peace that results.

I'm still working away on them but I do find it relaxing and I've had some incredible epiphanies since I started 5 days ago.

Since I don't believe in "coincidences", I'm choosing to believe it's the power of my watercolour markers!

COFFEE TALK

Okay I told you that I have had some big epiphanies ... well ... here's one of them.

At the end of December (on a whim) I created the "You Got This Subscription."  It was the epitome of messy inspired action.

I wasn't sure on the name (but I do like this mug)
I wasn't sure on the price (but I knew I wanted it low)
I wasn't sure on the format (but I knew I wanted it to be weekly)
I didn't have a sales page (and I hate making them ... I knew I didn't NEED one)

I knew ... I wanted to help women step into their power, by giving them weekly steps to change the way they think, change the way they feel, and change up their space to support them.

I did ONE initial Neurographics drawing and all of a sudden I kept hearing this same message over and over and over again.

The POWERHOUSE

Of COURSE this is what I should have called the damn thing (and myself, an Empowerment Coach) in the first place!!!!

- I'm a feng shui practitioner ... I can help you to design your home to be a powerful space that helps you to reach your goals

- I always say the word "powerhouse" when speaking about my coaching clients ... when they step into their brilliance WOWWWW they really ARE powerhouses.

- I run a course called The Power of You.  Last years journaling group was called The Power Project.

Like ... how much more can I dance around this damn word before I actually GET the message that's being sent to me????

So I did a thing .... You Got This has changed to ....

and I'm obsessed with it.

It keeps changing ever so slightly ... I keep adding to it ... I keep tweaking it ... and I'm excited to see just how much change these powerhouse women can create in their lives as a result!!

FENG SHUI TIP OF THE MONTH

Okay this is what I want you to know ...

Feng Shui doesn't work if you just read this stuff and don't TRY it.

I know ... its a revolutionary thought.

But I'm guilty of it too.

I think to myself ... yes yes yes ... I need to upgrade my bedroom!!!

And then I eat a sandwich.

Totally random and NOT going to help me feel better in my space.

THIS is the premise of The POWERHOUSE.  I wanted to offer a place where you could learn the stuff (like feng shui, intuition practice, mindset shifts, meditation, journaling etc) and gain support in TRYING this stuff.

So, here it goes ... this month I want you to DO this.  I don't really care if it's your office, your side of the bed or a tiny bathroom (all of these have been my favourite places at one point in my life), I just want to ensure that you have at least ONE place that's all yours.

Yes ... kick your kids outta there too.

YOUR spot should have YOUR energy and YOUR favourite things.  It also should have items that make you happy and that make you feel special.

One of the things that I love to add to my space is fresh flowers.

My ensuite has an orchid plant that blooms twice a year without fail.  Having a bath in there just feels special.

My side of the bed is where I keep my pretty journal and favourite pen o-the-day.

My daughter has a nightstand that is usually adorned with fresh roses or gerbera daisies that adds a nice smell and a punch of colour to her boho inspired room.

Do whatever you can to make one spot in your home special for YOU.  Let it make you smile.  :)

Speaking of smiles ... I sent this to my daughter this month.  haha

WHAT (or who) INSPIRES ME

I was going to start off this section by telling you how I signed up on a whim for Neurographics.  Cool course.  Designed and taught by psychologists.  Works to remove mental blocks basically (apparently you can use it to find lost items too).

But instead I'm going to chat about this guy who my son has been listening to:

Cameron Hanes

I hadn't heard of him before so when Cole said that he had bought his book, I looked him up, read a bit about his life, went to his website and of COURSE ... I read about his business.

"Cam Hanes has based his life and career around the things he loves: writing, self-improvement, photography and filming, his family and bowhunting the backcountry. "  He's an author, a motivational speaker, an athlete, a famous bow hunter.

The dude strives to run a marathon every day.  He gets up at 2:45 am, he runs before work, takes an extended lunch and sometimes runs then and also after work.  (I, do not recommend all of this running but hey ... I'm not a famous athlete, bow elk hunter and renowned speaker nor am I worth 5 million dollars sooooo maybe he's onto something).

Anyway one day he was talking about his running and this guy turned to him, frustrated with listening about it and said "NOBODY CARES".

... and Cam Hanes has built a brand using it.

Now, normally I am the one who would suggest that words matter ... in this case, it simply is a statement to himself and to those who are inspired by him ... that nobody cares about your excuses, how hard it is, how much you've done ... this is YOU working for YOU ... "work harder".

... and I can see why my son, the athlete who loves the mountains, bought his book.

What I find to be the most inspiring is that the things that people have said to him, have become part of his motto.  When a guy says "must be nice" because he has built a very successful brand and assumes he has it easy ... he creates a t-shirt out of it.  It becomes motivation for him.

In the end, we are all SO different.  What inspires one, may not inspire another.  And that's what's cool about life.

To me, I think it's so crazy cool to see what a POWERFUL brand we can create, when it means something so very deeply to us.  When we combine all of the things that we hold so important to ourselves, and we boldly step into it ... we cannot fail.

I like Cam Hanes' brand.  I LOVE that my son is inspired by him.

COOL SHIT

Okay well you know that I am a girl who has at times, struggled with migraines.  Thankfully they are rare these days.  I like a good ole combo of tylenol and extra strength advil for those suckers PLUS my secret weapon:  Saje Peppermint Halo wand.

The Saje brand is by FAR the most effective peppermint essential oil I've tried (sorry Young Living and DoTerra - this one works much faster and better.)  I'm a fan of the Halo wand in particular, but this one has three products this cool little headache pharmacy pack!!!!  I love it ... I bought one for my kids and one for myself.

It's got the wand (the tall thing) that you push into your hair line to release the oils and then you drag it all around your hairline (like a halo).  Also a roller ball for the peppermint oil and a nasal inhaler.  It's the cats ass!!!

Now here is the NEXT thing that I keep hearing about ...

It's a migraine ice wrap.  You put it in the freezer ... it has just the right amount of pressure around your head in all the right spots.  It's nice and dark and cold.  Ahhhhhhh.  Perfect!

It's in my Amazon cart already.

WHAT'S COMIN UP?

A week ago, a friend (and well-known Psychic Medium) ask me if I have something NEW coming up because she felt a "new" energy coming through for me.

At first, I thought ... nope ... nope ... nothing new.  You're WRONG chickie!!!  (Phew!  I like when it's not just ME who's wrong).

EXCEPT ... I have a new name now for my monthly membership ... a new vibe ... a new energy ... and new additions to it ...

Good grief she WAS right!!!  A new energy DID come through.

2)  And here it is ... I have also added a SUPER cool referral bonus!!  For referring 3, 6 or 9 people who join, I will unlock bonuses JUST FOR YOU.  I want to make it as fun as possible and transformative as possible.  I mean .... we need BOTH I think.  ;)

I'M READY TO JOIN THE POWERHOUSE

2) I'm LOVING The Power of You private podcast SOOO much.  I designed it so that women in a few of my coaching containers had access to me at their fingertips.

It's SO good though (and transformative) and so I've decided to open it up to everyone!  $9 CAD gives you access to the private pod.  It's got meditations from The Power of You, as well I will be adding some quick mindset shifts that will help you control the circling thoughts that make you feel like a big bag of dogshit.  The goal is ALWAYS to feel good.

TASTY SHIT!

Carrot and Fennel Salad with White Wine Dressing - Chef Roger Mooking

I started making this salad about 20 years ago but when our kids were younger they didn't love it as much as we did and I forgot all about it.  Lately though ... I keep seeing my little jar-o-capers in our fridge and it triggers me to think of this salad.  Next grocery list:  FENNEL

Photo Cred:  The Cooking Channel (cause I don't have fennel yet to make my own and take a pic for you!)

Ingredients

1/2 cup sultana (golden) raisins
1 cup white wine
2 tablespoons honey
2 carrots, peeled, cut into ribbons with vegetable peeler
1/2 fennel, thinly sliced
1 1/2 tablespoons capers, drained
1 1/4 cups coarsely chopped fresh parsley
1/2 cup sliced almonds, toasted

Directions

Our Tips and Tweaks:

- if you don't want to use the wine, you can definitely switch it out for a good quality non alcoholic wine or apple juice if you'd prefer!

- I honestly wouldn't change anything else in this recipe.  It's about the EXPERIENCE of this salad.  It's special.  Like, Michelin Star Restaurant salad.  So grab your carrot peeler and use it on the carrots for the long ribbons (don't chop em nor buy the shredded pre-bagged stuff).  The capers add the little balls of salt that you need ... the fennel is necessary (and I don't even LIKE things that takes like licorice).   Don't skip the parsley and the almonds either!!  You need the fuzzy grass;  you need the crunch.  ;)

If you try it, or tweak it I'd love to hear what you do!  Take a picture and send it to me!

Once again, from the bottom of my heart, thank you SO much to all of you who regularly email me, recommend my group, my courses, my coaching or this newsletter to your friends and colleagues, your biz besties and your family.  I appreciate every one of you and every message that I receive.
