My Random Thoughts from February 2024

Feb 29, 2024

Aren't leap years fun?

I mean ... how cool is it that we get a BONUS DAY!!?   I always feel as though it's a day for magic ... for miracles ... for extraordinary.  Grab your journal on this day (or in the first few days of March) and write out what you want the next four years to look like.

COFFEE TALK

I've had a lot of conversations this month with women who feel conflicted about their next steps.  Whether it's a new diet, an exercise program, a new business or a new strategy ... they feel unsure about their next steps so they message me.

I LOVE to listen to my own gut instincts and just direct them what feels right to me, for THEM.

I mean ... at the end of the day, whatever choice you choose should feel right TO you FOR you.  Your friends way, may not be YOUR way, ya know?

The more courses I took, the more I started to rust my intuition, the more I meditated  ... the more I realized that ALL of us are just born with intuitive gifts.  We shut them off or we find it hard to trust the messages that we get.

The key ... is to just practice!  Here are some of the things that I recommend to fine tune your intuition:

~ meditate ~ I used to avoid meditation until I found ones that I really liked (I share some guided ones in the PODCAST I mention below and there are TONS of them in The Vault).  Meditation allows you to turn off the chatter in your mind, so that you can hear the answers within you.

~ journal ~ Yep ... I used to avoid journaling too but as it turns out, journaling is a freaking miracle cure that's cheaper than therapy.    Journaling acts to clear out the mental clutter and by just allowing your pen to flow without thinking about what you are putting on the paper, you would be AMAZED at what flies out of your pen!

~ have fun with it ~ one of the things that I've found to be the most beneficial in the beginning, was to just practice.  A friend of mine and I started just messaging each other and starting out with "okay ... what does your gut say about THIS?"  We just had fun and didn't worry about if we were wrong or not ... we just tried to tune out our thoughts and see what our intuitive advice was.

~ use oracle cards ~ years ago my daughter was given a deck of angel oracle cards to just practice with.  While I no longer need cards to give me guidance, they help to tune off the ego and help to verify the intuitive messages we get.

~ ask for a sign ~ last year in my journaling membership one of the members developed the MOST amazing connection with her father who had passed away the year before.  She "spoke" to him on her daily walks and would often ask for hime to send her signs to let her know if she was on the right path.  One day she actually found some lost dogs and used this method to help them find their homes that were MILES away!!!

It's incredible how much power we have ... when we just listen to our own intuition and then have faith to follow it.  Now, one of my psychic friends said "the reason we have a hard time listening to our intuition for ourselves, is because we are too tied to the outcome".  That made SO MUCH SENSE!  What I've learned is that when it's true intuition ... you should feel a calm knowing, not panic ... but calm.

Happy practicing!

FENG SHUI TIP OF THE MONTH

Have you ever walked into a house and you could just FEEL that something was ...  "off"?  Maybe you could feel as though someone in the home was stressed or you just walked in after an argument happened, without even seeing them?  Maybe you had someone in your home who was particularly negative and now you can feel that residual energy?

We all have that innate ability to sense the energy of a space (it's not just our pets who have this gift!).  What's important to know about this though is that while we can feel it ... we don't have to live with that uncomfortable energy until it eventually dissipates.  We can speed it up!

There are a number of different ways that you can shift/clear the energy of your space:

My intuitive coach uses "sound energy" like singing bowls or clapping or clanging pots works!  Alternatively you can use a space clearing music found on youtube:

SPACE CLEARING THROUGH SOUND ENERGY

I personally love burning incense, but you can burn palo santo, sweetgrass, sage or even dried herbs like rosemary.

But there's a simpler way to clear the energy too ...

OPEN THE WINDOWS AND DOORS!!

Allowing the air to circulate (particularly when the air is cool/cold) is a GREAT way of shifting the energy and allowing in "fresh energy"

WHAT (or who) INSPIRES ME

This week I had a really good conversation with a friend of mine.  She had been feeling as though she was "stuck" between wanting a different life and not wanting to take action towards achieving it.

She somehow stumbled on a podcast where Jamie Kern Lima was interviewed.  She is the founder of IT COSMETICS (which she sold to L'Oreal for 1.2 BILLION DOLLARS).  It was a company she developed from her kitchen table, in a simple attempt to create makeup that would cover her rosacea.

The podcast was about the difference between Self-Confidence and Self-Worth and this concept was so interesting!   Think of Self-Confidence as the knowledge, the skill, the practice, the experience ... the things that you do that grow your confidence.  Think of Self-WORTH ... is that deep down belief in what you "deserve".

So if you have a great idea, a goal, a drive ... but you struggle with taking the steps to START (or you sabotage success) ... self-worth is what you want to work on!!  (who knew?)

One of the things she said that was the FASTEST way to increase self-worth and reduce doubt was to simply TRUST your higher power over your fears.

So simple.  So life-changing.

I'm reading her second book called "Worthy" on the kindle app, on my ipad, with the open dyslexic font.  I'll let ya know how much I love it ... ;)

COOL SHIT

Over here in the Priestley manor there is ME ... who just believes that everything will work out ... and my husband who prepares in the event that it doesn't.  It's a good yin yang thing we've got going on here.  HAHA.

Interestingly, it is HE who is the firefighter and ME who thought that these suckers would be a great idea!!!!

It's a fire supression blanket!!!    We hung ours on the inside of a kitchen cabinet to be close to the stove.

Did you know that kitchen fires are said to be the leading cause of house fires???

They are reusable (though I hope you dont need to) they don't expire and not only can you just throw them on a small fire but you can drape them over a pet or yourself if you are trying to get out of a home.

You can check them out here

WHAT'S COMIN UP?

I'm so loving my monthly membership and I'm really liking the focus on mindset + feng shui.  Each Monday I go live in the group with practical strategies, tips and shifts that you can do RIGHT NOW to transform your life.  I post "enhancement tasks" so you will take action ... not just listen to me ... and then eat a sandwich.  I WANT YOU TO FEEL BETTER and ACHIEVE YOUR DREAM and that's what this group is about.  Each week I also help you to fine tune your OWN intuition and once a month I do a live card reading.    It's literally everything you need to live a little lighter.

Here are a couple of comments from the women in the group!

I'M READY TO JOIN THE POWERHOUSE

2) I'm LOVING The Power of You private podcast SOOO much.  I designed it so that women in a few of my coaching containers had access to me at their fingertips.  The guided meditations that I recommend in The Power of You are in here!!  Awareness, Acceptance, Attraction and Allowance ... they're all in here!

$9 CAD (one-time payment) and gives you access to the private pod.  It's got the meditations as well as some quick mindset shifts that will help you control the circling thoughts that make you feel like a big bag of dogshit.  The goal is ALWAYS to feel good.  (I add more as time goes on)

** If you are in my private coaching container (THE NEXT LEVEL), THE POWER OF YOU or THE POWERHOUSE ... you have access already!  Look to your respective groups for details on how to access it.

TASTY SHIT!

I'm not sure about you, but some days I'm SO uninspired with meals and I struggle to figure out what to make.   One of the things I love is actually looking through the Hello Fresh recipes on-line for inspiration (my son gets Hello Fresh delivery when he is in school).  This one he orders quite often - it's quick, a little spicy and pretty tasty.

Beef Banh Mi-Style Bowls w/ pickled carrots and cucumbers

This one is quick, tasty and a bit spicy!   (4 people)

Ingredients

500 g ground beef (or ground chicken)
jasmine rice (or brown rice, millet, quinoa ... your preference)
mini cucumbers, cut into 1/4" rounds
carrots, julienned
2 tbsp sesame seeds
2 tbsp soy sauce
1/2 cup hoisin sauce
4 tsp sriracha (more or less depending on your heat preference)
1/2 cup mayonnaise
2 tbsp rice wine vinegar
cilantro, roughly chopped
1 tbsp sugar

Directions

** The directions for Hello Fresh are what to do exactly in order, so that you can cook it in 25 minutes.  I don't usually follow that so I'll write it out the way that I like to read recipes.  :)

Cook rice as per package directions.  Keep warm.

Whisk together vinegar, sugar and 1/2 cup water in a medium bowl.  Add in cucumbers and carrots and toss to coat.  Place in fridge to pickle.

Brown beef in large pan with 1/2 tbsp of oil.  Cook until no pink remains.  Carefully drain and discard excess fat.  Add hoisin sauce, soy sauce and half of the sesame seeds to the pan.  Cook, stirring often, until beef is coated (1-2 min).

Mix mayo and sriracha in a small bowl - set aside.

Finish and Serve:

Drain pickled vegetables and discard liquid.  Fluff rice with a fork.  Divide rice between bowls.  Top with beef, pickled veggies and garnish with cilantro.  Spoon sriracha mayo over top then sprinkle with remaining sesame seeds.  Enjoy!

Our Tips and Tweaks:

- I really like the addition of the quick pickle cucumbers and carrots to this recipe.  I think it gives it a bit of a nice vinegar flavour, but if you're not a fan, then I would substitute with steamed broccoli and steamed carrots!

If you try it, or tweak it I'd love to hear what you do!  Take a picture and send it to me!

Once again, from the bottom of my heart, thank you SO much to all of you who regularly email me, recommend my group, my courses, my coaching or this newsletter to your friends and colleagues, your biz besties and your family.  I appreciate every one of you and every message that I receive.
